I would like to dedicate this album to my family. To the love of my life, Lisa, for always supporting my dreams with patience, advice and the gift of time. To my children Malakai, River, Quinn and Naomi for keeping me grounded and connected to what is important. This album was recorded in the Our Lady of Victory Church (Iglu Church) in Inuvik, Northwest Territories on the traditional lands of the Gwich’in and Inuvialuit people and at Clearlake Recording Studios in North Hollywood, California on the traditional lands of the Chumash, Tongva and Fernandeno Tataviam people. With so much gratitude, I would like to acknowledge the support of the NWT Arts Council, Our Lady of Victory Parish Inuvik and all the contributors to my Indiegogo crowd-funding campaign. Thanks for believing in me.
The single, “Spirit’s Soared” was written in memory of Daniel, Harry, Milly Neville-Lake and Gary Neville who were killed in a car crash caused by a drunk driver on September 27th 2015, in Vaughn, Ontario. Much gratitude to Josephine Neville for bringing Jason and I together and for making so many meaningful connections along the way. Also to the Neville-Lake family for showing that grace, conviction and commitment can change the world.
Much gratitude to my parents, Dave and Nora Drennan and siblings, Meera, Ruth, and Joel for always being there for me. To Jason Manns for his honesty, generosity and mentorship. To all the musicians for their time and talents, Dave Drennan, Ruth Drennan, Malakai Keegan-Drennan, Glen Brake, Benjamin Davidson, Kwanza Msingwana, David Ross, Cooper Apelt and Rob Humphreys. To Erika Wolfe for her incredible talents, patience and generosity. To Tony Devlin for his expertise in photography and for always providing honest feedback. To Mike and Diane Baxter for the skidoo ride and camp photo shoot. To Jon Hansen and Miki O’Kane for their unending support from the parish council. To Edward Laporte, Norman Foote, Ali Garrison, Greyson Gritt, Leanne Goose, Chris Sharpe, Roy Goose, Steve Dagar, and Megan McCaffrey for being a part of this journey, offering encouragement, advice and perspective. This project was funded in part by the NWT Arts Council and an Indiegogo Campaign.
